In the spring of 2013, I travelled to Haiti to participate in an ESL camp and community partnership building. As I was completing my practicum at the time, several of my students took the initiative to organize a clothing and toy drive, to send care items to the children I met in Haiti. Through the inspiring and motivated efforts of my students, I was able to carry over 75 kg of clothing, toys and shoes to children in Pignon and Cap-Haitien, Haiti. It was a memorable and touching way to leave the students I had worked with so closely, and a touching example of the kind of community building my students are capable of!
