Dan Myer’s Three Act Math

At one point, textual learning was the thing. Read this problem, think about it (in words) and then write out your solution.  It worked for me, as an avid reader, in all subjects but math.  There, I just couldn’t comprehend, and I certainly couldn’t see it.

So we have Mr. Dan Myers, thinking about this problem, and acknowledging that, for the most part, we are visual learners.  Our predominant sensory input is visual, unless we are visually impaired.  So why fight it?  In the Three Act Math, Myers creates and collects videos, targeting Common Core math curriculum, introducing a problem and setting one up.  Visually engaging, and complex math problems, which can be scaffolded with higher order thinking prompts.
